Reaching out to Catholic/Christians Individuals/Families

I am a Catholic by Florence D’Costa

I felt inspired to post this.  I suggest that we always carry maybe a card or this information written on a card, just in case we do meet with an accident…..  Also it is important that when a Catholic is admitted into hospital that they intimate the hospital Chaplain that you are a Catholic, so that he could come and visit you and pray for you and give you Holy Communion which will definitely help and strengthen you.

Let us also pray for our priests every day and also pray for Vocations to the Priesthood.

Inner Peace by Florence D’Costa

It is very easy for us to lose our inner peace. Inner peace is priceless, so let realise this and be happy. It is also important for us to love ourselves, our neighbour and most of all, Love God. Many of us at one time or another, think that God is not helping us enough but my dear brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, let us allow God to be God and let him be in control of our lives. God is awesome and he is the best person who knows what is best for us and for our souls.

Choose Palliative Care – Why Assisted Suicide?

This image is so beautiful and there is so much beauty in this world.  T0 feel healthy and strong is an awesome feeling.  What happens when a person is terminally ill, how do you think they feel, especially if they are having terrible pain.  Well, we do have palliative care and that is so beautiful.  People are loved and they are made to feel comfortable as they slowly approach death.  Palliative Care enables terminally ill people to die with dignity.  They are made to feel comfortable right to the very end.  Why do some people want assisted suicide?  Why are Governments for assisted suicide instead of continuing with palliative care.

Suffering/Sickness/Problems – Give them all to Jesus!

There are many people who are having problems such as various types of sickness or illness.  For some it is terminal illness.  Each individual is suffering in their own way.  Whatever be your problems, just give them all to Jesus and He will turn your sorrows into Joy.

Suffering – Can you Pray?

To those who are sick in hospitals, nursing homes, sick at home and in agonising and excruciating pain.  Is it possible for such people to praise and thank God.  For those who are suffering terrible and excruciating pain, it is highly impossible to be praising God during that time but your love for God is above all others, then your soul is in the Presence of God.  That is what is important.  Loving God all the time even without saying One Word out loud. There is one thing I would like to tell you all.  When you are suffering excruciating pain, and you know that you love God above all else then, I am sure that God is very much aware of how much you love Him and YOU CAN BE SURE THAT YOU ARE IN HIS EMBRACE.  Suffering, Happy, Sad, Laughing, Dancing, Crying, Smiling – whatever you may be doing – if you love God above all else, you can be sure that you will be FOREVER IN HIS EMBRACE and that is the safest place to be at all times.

At the Foot of the Cross – Lyrics

Are you feeling burdened or stressed.  Are you worried about something that you cannot solve?  Are you sick with some terminal illness?  Feeling weak and alone?

I have some good news for you. Most importantly it is necessary to forgive all those who have hurt you and to ask forgiveness from those whom you have hurt. Then leave it all at the Foot of the Cross.

Jesus Christ died for you and for me.  Leave your burdens at the Foot of the Cross and believe that you are Loved by God and He will relieve you of your burdens, your sickness and whatever else is keeping you down.

Nothing is impossible for Those who believe in God!

Yes, my dear friends, nothing is impossible for those who believe in God. So, let us all shout to the Lord –
‘I Believe, I Believe, I Believe in You’. Yes, Our Lord Jesus Christ is worthy of our praise. There is no One Like our God. He alone is worthy! He is Our King!
Jesus Christ, the name above all names. Yes, the Love of Our Lord Jesus Christ is Greater than any other love. May the Name of Christ Jesus be lifted up.Let us all bow down and adore Our Lord and God. May we give Him all glory – May everything that we think, say and do give Him all the Glory.

Let us during this Lenten Season have our gaze on Christ Jesus. He suffered and died for each one of us. This afternoon I went to a friend’s house and she was building an additional garage, so she took me and showed me around the new building. We then walked into the garden and there was a large thorny bush which was bearing fruit. So,we were plucking the fruit and thorns
pierced my fingers so many times and it really did hurt.
During the Way of the Cross I was feeling the thorns piercing my fingers and I could imagine the excruciating that Christ felt when He was tortured and crown with thorns. If we keep the Suffering Christ in our minds during this Lent, we will surely be strong and brave to overcome all the odds and problems that come our way. This would strengthen us to be over-
comers and Nothing would be impossible for those who believe in a God – Our Lord Jesus Christ, who was so willing to empty himself and die for each one of us. Through His death He has taught us to be overcomers. When we believe in Him, impossible things become possible because of our faith in Him.

We must start declaring that the Gracious Hand of God will save us. We must all the time brag on God’s favour, then the more we will receive God’s favour. God’s gracious hand is on each one of us. We always think that other people have more talent, more money, more beauty, more everything and we become despondent. Even if people are against us and if they are trying to push us down, we must believe that God’s gracious hand is on us. If we believe thus, we are then Overcomers and we can very confidently say that NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THOSE WHO BELIEVE IN GOD!

Laughter and Happiness is a Gateway to Healthy Living!

It is easier to laugh and to smile than to frown. I think about 15 facial muscles are activated when you smile and 32 muscles are activated when you frown. It is so much easier to smile than to frown. I think generous people smile more often and selfish people frown most of the time. You might ask me, why? Well, when a person smiles genuinely, it makes the person who is smiling happy and the person who receives the smiles also becomes happy. Happiness is good for the health and frowning is detrimental to health. The person who frowns generates unease or unhappiness in the person who is targetted.

This evening I visited a friend’s blog and I was very surprised to view one video. I could not find my earphones and hence I just viewed the video and what I saw made me laugh and laugh and laugh. I then decided to write about the benefits of laughter and I copied this following article:

A trusted Non-profit Resource
Laughter is the Best Medicine
The Health Benefits of Humor and Laughter
Humor is infectious. The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any cough, sniffle, or sneeze. When laughter is shared, it binds people together and increases happiness and intimacy. In addition to the domino effect of joy and amusement, laughter also triggers healthy physical changes in the body. Humor and laughter strengthen your immune system, boost your energy, diminish pain, and protect you from the damaging effects of stress. Best of all, this priceless medicine is fun, free, and easy to use.

Laughter is strong medicine for mind and body
“Your sense of humor is one of the most powerful tools you have to make certain that your daily mood and emotional state support good health.”

~ Paul E. McGhee, Ph.D.
Laughter is a powerful antidote to stress, pain, and conflict. Nothing works faster or more dependably to bring your mind and body back into balance than a good laugh. Humor lightens your burdens, inspires hopes, connects you to others, and keeps you grounded, focused, and alert.

With so much power to heal and renew, the ability to laugh easily and frequently is a tremendous resource for surmounting problems, enhancing your relationships, and supporting both physical and emotional health.

Laughter is good for your health
Laughter relaxes the whole body. A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after.
Laughter boosts the immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.
Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.
Laughter protects the heart. Laughter improves the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow, which can help protect you against a heart attack and other cardiovascular problems. UNQUOTE

I did hear about a person who was suffering from an incurable disease. The doctor advised this patient to watch comedy movies. This patient very religiously began to watch comedy movies. He enjoyed every movie and he laughed and laughed his way to health. After a period of time, he went back to his doctor and the doctor was very surprised and happy to announce to his patient that he was HEALED.

My dear people, I advise you to laugh and to make other people laugh. Give away your smiles – It is free and it does not cost anything. If someone gives you a smile, receive it graciously because when we receive a smile and we smile back, it makes the person who gave us a smile, happy as well. Generous people are happy and they make others happy. Selfish people frown all the time and they make other unhappy as well. It is upto to us to either SMILE or FROWN. We can choose to be either GENEROUS OR SELFISH.

What do you choose to do? LAUGH, SIMLE OR FROWN?
It is upto to you to choose. If people around us are unhappy, we must strive to do our best to make them LAUGH OR SMILE.

This is a challenge for me and you and I know that we can do it. Let us go my dear people and make the WORLD A BETTER, HAPPIER AND A HEALTHIER PLACE!

God’s Love is Free!

Sometimes Life deals us a blow and we are stunned and then we ask ourselves, “Why me, Lord?” “Why did you choose me to suffer thus?” We then begin to question God’s love for us. We think to ourselves that we have been so faithful to God and we are not able to understand why God has allowed a tragedy into our lives.  A tragedy could be as follows :

  • The loss of a loved one.
  • Great Financial Loss in a business.
  • Shocking and sad news when the Doctor tells either a family member, or our friend or even us that we have a disease or sickness that is incurable or that we cannot have a baby.
  • Maybe when we suddenly feel lonely and deserted and think that there is nobody in this world who cares for us.

Each individual or family at sometime or the other faces tragedies in their lives.  For each individual or families, tragedies vary and are different.  The question now is, how do we behave when we are confronted with tragedies.

  • Do we give in to our sorrow and have a ‘Pity Party?’
  • Do we take to drinking and getting drunk.
  • Do we rebel against God?
  • Do we indulge in food?
  • Do we become housebound – Meaning afraid to leave our homes and afraid to meet people?
  • Do we stop praying and believing in a Great and Loving God?

I can go on and on.  As you read this article, you will know the situation you are in or maybe a family member or a friend or an acquaintance?

My dear people, I think it is time that we get down on our knees and pray to this Wonderful and Awesome God, who created us because His love for us is so great.  A God who sent His only begotten son to die for each one of us so that we would have new and everlasting life.

Lent is a Season for us to spend sometime to think of all our blessings and to thank God for every single blessing that He has given us so freely.  We do not have to pay for His blessings.  He has given blessings to us freely.  We must pray constantly and rejoice that we have a Great Big God like Our God and that there is no other like Him.  We must sing and dance and praise God.m  When we are happy in God’s presence, He will give us the strength and courage to handle problems, worries and tragedies that come our way.

Everything that we have does not belong to us.  God has lent everything that we have.  So, when it is time for God to take away from us, things that belongs to Him but that which He has only lent us, who are we to question Him.

So, my dear people, let us enjoy all the things that God has so generously given us.  From this m0ment on, let us make a decision to be kind and generous to those whom we work with, live with – our neighbours, our relatives, our friends, our parishioners etc.  When we open our mouths to speak, may we be gentle with our words and actions.  May we do unto people what we would like done to ourselves.

I think, it is time for each one of us to spend some quiet time in front of the Blessed Sacrament and pray that Christ Jesus will make us kind people.  That Christ would transform us during this Lent so that we would be Christlike.  Before we wound or humilate anybody, may we stop and think, ‘What would Christ do in this situation?  I would like to remind you that it is always very important before we do anything, it is always good to think, ‘What would Christ Jesus do in this situation?’

Now that we have meditated for a while. What do you think Christ Jesus is telling? Have a book or a diary and write down the messages that Christ Jesus is giving you. It is good to record these messages.

This is what Christ Jesus is telling me:

‘My dear Florence, I love you very, very much. Your smile warms my heart. When I see you on your knees in prayer, especially when you are in church, I come to your side and I sit beside you and I hold you in my arms. I whisper in your ear that I love you and when I look into your heart, I can see your great love for me, my Heavenly Father and the Holy Spirit and I am pleased.
Continue to love me, my child and continue to love those around you and your enemies as well. When I look into your heart, I see so much of love for your enemies and for those who hurt you and this love of yours is like a balm for the wounds that I got during my passion. Continue to love all those around you with the Love of My Father which He has so generously poured into your heart. You are rich because of the love we have poured into your heart. Give Our love generously to those around you, because they need it and we will replenish you with Our Love.”

I am so happy to hear Christ Jesus speak so lovingly to me. I many times wonder, what did I do, to deserve Christ’s love. Well, I have done nothing to deserve His love. His love is free.

If you want to continue to meditate on God’s Love, I invite you to do so now.

God is Smiling Down on Each One of You!

My dear Friends, how many of you are aware that God is your friend and that He is happy that you are alive and that you are aware that He is your God.

God created each one of us because of His Great love for you and me. We being alive gives Him great glory. So it is very important for us to be happy that we are alive and we worship a great big God as Our God.

It was not by chance or accidence that we are Catholics/Christians. God in His goodness and mercy chose each one of us and called us by name. We are special to Him and believe me, my dear friends, His gaze is on each one of us every minute, every second and why do you think His gaze is on us? He is in Love with each one of us and that is why His gaze is on us. God is love and because He is love, He knows only how to love us.

If difficulties, problems, sickness, financial stress should come confront us, it is because God has allowed these things to happen to us. Why do you think God has allowed bad things to happen to us. Is it because He hates us? No, He allows us to have problems because it is through suffering that we are purified and we are brought closer to Him. He loves us so much that He longs to have us in His arms. We must believe that Christ Jesus loved us so much that He came down to die for each one of us.

For those of you out there who are doubting in God’s great love and tender mercy, I urge you to come back to God for He is waiting for you with open arms. The 22nd of February is Ash Wednesday – the beginning of lent. This is the time of the year for us to return to God – to be sorry for our sins – to make a good confession – to be inward looking and to see how we could become better people. This is the time for us to be charitable to one another in our thoughts, words and deeds.

Give all your problems, sorrows, joys, difficulties even your happiness. Give it all to Jesus Christ. He will purify all that we give Him and He will return it to us purified and blessed. We are so lucky that Christ Jesus is Our Lord and Master. His love for us has no bounds.

I am going to close my eyes for a minute and if Christ Jesus gives me a message I will share it with you.

Well, I can see Christ Jesus – He is wearing a white garment and He is walking towards me. I can see His nail pierced hands and feet. He is showing me his nail pierced hands and feet and He is telling me that He willing died on the cross because of His great love for us all and also for His great love for the whole wide world.

He is telling me that He wants us all to run into His arms. He says, ‘Come to me and I will give you rest’. He says that people when they face trouble and trials, they run away from me. He says tell my people that especially when they have problems, they need to come running to me because only I can help them. I will give them all the graces that they need to live from one day to the next.

I can see His hair moving in the wind and a great beauty on His face. He looks radiant and He says, ‘Come!’ I can see myself running towards Him. It looks like He is on the beach and I am finding it hard to run on the beach because the sand is moving under my feet. I am now in His arms but I cannot feel Him because Christ is Spirit. Everytime He holds me, He is spirit and whenever I am in His arms, I am being healed in mind, soul and body and I feel very happy.

My dear friends, this is an exercise for you when you read this article. You will see Christ the way I have described Him. Run into His arms and allow Him to hold you and heal you. You will find peace that surpasses all understanding.

As Christ holds you, tell Him all your problems. Believe me, He is your best friend. He is your Saviour and Healer. He will listen and He will help you but you must believe because only faith can heal you. Only faith can make you well in mind, soul and body. When you are with Christ, take your family and friends to Him for blessing. May all of us can sit down on the beach with Christ Jesus and He will teach you how to do God’s Holy Will. He will chat with you and He will become your close friend. This is what He wants. He wants to have a close relationship with each and everyone of us. The question is? Are we ready?

Some food for thought. Let us examine ourselves and see what is it that we want from Christ Jesus. Are we ready to love Him unconditionally – that no matter whatever situation that we are in, we would love Him. Love is not love unless it is expressed, so are we ready to express our love to Christ? I leave you with this question? Think and answer yourself and Christ. He is waiting for your answer, my friends!
