Psalm 23 by Florence D’Costa

Psalm 23   A psalm of David.

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
he refreshes my soul. He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.

My views:  David was shepherd before he became king.  He knew what is was to be a shepherd.  He would do anything to protect his sheep.  He once killed a lion and a bear, bare handed to protect his sheep. He killed animals that were stronger than him. So, he calls the Lord his shepherd and he knows for sure that God would protect him and that he lacked nothing. He knew that the Lord would take great care of him.  David continues… He says that the Lord would make him lie down in green pastures and lead him near quiet waters. , meaning that he would not be in want for anything and the Lord would refresh his soul.  He knows that a shepherd would guard and protect his sheep, both during the day and night.  For sure David knew that the Lord God would protect him from evil, darkness and from his enemies.  He says that God prepares a table for him in front of his enemies and he wants for nothing.  David was king and his head was annointed and he has everything.  He is assured that God is goodness and mercy and love and would follow him for the rest of his life and that one day he will dwell in the house of the Lord forever – meaning heaven.

This is a beautiful psalm and we can apply it to our lives.  If God is our shepherd,. we would enjoy all these things that David enjoyed through his great faith in God.  If we had faith like David, we also would want for nothing.  God would be our protector, our provider, our guide, he would refresh our soul and help us to walk the straight and narrow path.  He would annoint our heads with oil and give us grace to be God’s children.  He would prepare a banquet for us in front of our enemies and our enemies would know that God is our Host.  We can also be assured that God’s goodness, mercy and love and will follow us for the rest of our lives and that one day, we will dwell in the Lord’s House forever.  IT WOULD BE GOOD TO MEDITATE ON THIS PSALM AND SEE WHAT THE LORD IS SAYING TO YOU.

Jesus is Our Valentine – Happy Valentine’s Day!

Happy Valentine’s Day to all my viewers.  Jesus Christ died for each one of us, so that we might have life.  The reason why we Catholics/Christrians live is because Christ Jesus died for us.  John:3:16 “For Christ so loved the World that He gave His only Begotten Son for us, so that we might have Eternal Life’.

How can we love Christ? When we love one another with Christ’s love, then we are True Christians. So lovers all over the world, love each other with Christ’s love!
Do something special for each other and make each other happy! Love each other with Holy Love! Give each other pleasant surprises not only on Valentine’s Day but every day. Do little things that will show your love and appreciation for each other. Husbands and wives unite yourselves to Christ. Only Christ can unite a husband and wife and make them one in His Holy Love. Wives, make yourselves pretty for your husbands and husbands appreciate your wives and tell them that they look beautiful. Give them flowers, write love notes to each other. Keep your love alive and may your love grow deeper and sweeter as the days go by. Only God can keep the love that you have for each other, so everyday, couples need to get down on their knees and worship this great big God. The more we love Him, the more He will fill our hearts with love for each other.

Every Christian is called to love each other with Unconditional love. So, let us outdo each other by doing things for each other, that would revive our love, our joy and peace.

It is absolutely necessary to pray for each other and to pray with each other. All couples should pray for each other and also for other couples all around the world. We must believe, that when we pray, God answers prayers and He blesses all couples with special and wonderful blessings.

For those singles who are looking for someone whom they wish to fall in love with and marry and have a family, get down on your knees on ‘Valentine’s Day’ and pray to Christ Jesus, Our True Valentine who died for each one of us to give us Life! and pray for your Life Partner. When you pray, believe that Christ always gives you a quality answer. All the best Singles!

Happy Valentine’s Day!

Are you struggling in Your Marriage?

A reminder to those who have forgotten how happy they were on their Wedding Day and a reminder that you could recapture those happy times again.

Where have you gone wrong? Have you neglected to love each other in good times and in bad times?

Are you struggling in your marriage?  Are you being taken advantage of?  Are you being walked all over?  You are not alone.  You definitely are not alone.  Jesus Christ is journeying with you.  I suggest you try and talk things over with your husband/wife.   Pray everyday on a personal level.  Pray as a family.

If the problem persists and the situation is really getting out of hand, then, I think it is time for you to approach a priest and seek help.  I am sure that he would suggest that you visit him with your spouse and you can be sure that HELP IS ON ITS WAY.  The Parish Priest will help you the best way he can.

So my dear married people who have stopped going to church for a very long time,  I would like to remind you that you are loved very much by a God and for those of you who have stopped going to Church and have stopped praying, I think it is time for you to come back to Church. Don’t stay home and become bitter.   Come back to Church, be friends with the Community and we as a Community will try to help you the best way we can.

Whatever be your problem, HELP IS ON ITS WAY but you must take the first step.  Come back to Church, talk to a Priest or to somebody whom you could trust in the Church Community and you can be SURE that YOU WILL BE HELPED.
