Divine Mercy Sunday – 2018 by Florence D’Costa

divine mercy
Divine Mercy Sunday – Wow! is the only word that I can use for the Mercy that the faithful receive on Divine Mercy Sunday.  For those of us who did pray the Divine Mercy Novena, attend Mass – free from sin and for those who make a conscious decision to try not to sin in the future, would gain a Plenary or Partial Indulgence.  God’s Mercy has no bounds. God’s devotion to His faithful, his desire to bless us constantly and to forgive us and to make us pure and holy is foremost in his plan for us.

If we have received a Plenary Indulgence on this wonderful day or a partial indulgence would for sure know the state of our soul because we would feel free from sin and we would surely feel a desire to keep away from sin.  Words cannot express our gratitude to God for His love and Divine Mercy.

Let us today, make a decision to keep away from sin and evil and to walk alongside Jesus Christ and to love him alone and to do His Holy Will in this life.  It is also important for us to help others who are willing to be helped and help them to journey with Christ and to be safe in His Love and Divine Mercy!

We should also pray for our priests who are instrumental in helping us to receive tremendous graces through the Sacraments.  Life is surely not easy for us or for priests and we all have a responsibility to pray for our priests and for one another.

Happy Divine Mercy Sunday and God bless us all.

Collosians 3:13 – 14 by Florence D’Costa

These two verses really and truly touches my heart.  We, the baptised are God’s chosen people.  So what is Paul saying in these two verses- He is calling us holy and dearly loved..   Then, what does he say.  He is encouraging us to clothe ourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.  Meaning. that he wants us to be compassionate, kind, humble, gentle and patient.  He goes further to say that he wants us to forgive one another.  He says, ‘Forgive as the Lord forgave you’.  Paul continues to tell us that He wants us to put on love which binds all these virtues together in perfect Unity.  It is very important for us to be Loving.  Paul wants us to clothe ourselves with all these virtues but above all, he wants us to put on LOVE.

I would like to add here that we being God’s chosen people, it is important for us to be holy –  And to be holy means to be compassionate, kind, gentle, humble, patient and loving.  How can we say that we are God’s chosen people and be just the opposite to what Paul is calling us to be.

Let us spend some time in meditation and slowly but surely surrender ourselves to God who will change us into people with all these virtues.  So it is important for us to surrender ourselves to God and allow Him to work on us.  You and I are unfinished products …. For God is still working on us.

Unforgiveness by Florence D’Costa

Let us begin with forgiving ourselves, forgiving God and forgiving others who have hurt us in one way or another. If we desire to be happy and healthy people, then it is important for us to forgive others and if someone or somebody is unhappy with us, let us reach out to them and make friends with them. We cannot go to a store and purchase peace – when we forgive, we will then have PEACE & HAPPINESS.

Our Mission today – Make others happy!

I went for Mass this morning and the homily that Fr Martin did give was very interesting.  He touched on the subject about concentrating on making others happy.  He said, let us not worry too much about making ourselves happy.

So I decided to share this video.  I would like to add here that it is important for us always to have a smile that we could share for it does not cost us to SMILE at others.  To give someone a smile, give them a kind and encouraging word, an embrace if they need one would definitely not cost us anything.  It is FREE TO GIVE and if we could make others happy – Why not!  My experience is that when I make others happy, then it surely proves that I am happy and then because I am happy, I could share that happiness with others.  We should be there for others and it is important for us to let them know that we will always be there for them.

Another important point – if we are there for others, then you can be sure that they will be there for you and even if they are not or unable to be there for us, it still does not matter.  What matters is THAT WE ARE THERE FOR OTHERS and that their happiness  MATTERS TO US.

So, let this MISSION be ours today – TO MAKE ANOTHER HUMAN BEING HAPPY.  Wow! this makes me happy.  When we decide to make others happy, we can be sure that we will not work at MAKING OTHER UNHAPPY!

So, let us go forth and produce HAPPINESS! Wow! Such happiness!

Lift up your eyes – GLORY TO GOD – HE WAS BORN IN A MANGER

My dear brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, when you are having problems in your life.  When you feel that your life is in a mess – STOP – Do not be disheartened because the God of Love and Life is with you in the midst of all your problems.  When your life is so messy and you simply want to give up – STOP – LIFT UP YOUR EYES AND BEHOLD GOD IN ALL HIS GLORY AND HE WILL SHOW YOU A WAY OUT OF YOUR MESS – OUT OF YOUR PROBLEMS –  REMEMBER THAT GOD IS IN LOVE WITH YOU – HE IS LOVE AND HE CAME DOWN TO THE EARTH WITH HIS EYES ON THE CROSS, SIMPLY BECAUSE HE LOVED YOU AND WANTED TO GIVE YOU NEW LIFE.

HE WAS BORN IN A MANGER – SO THAT NONE WOULD DIE BUT THAT HE WOULD DIE AND WOULD RISE TRIUMPHANTLY TO SAVE EACH ONE OF US FROM SPIRITUAL DEATH.  YES, HE SHALL BE CALLED ALMIGHTY GOD, PRINCE OF PEACE ETC!

When I look into Your Holiness

Every single human being when baptised becomes a Child of God. We call God, Our Father. God is Holy and each one of us are called by God to be Holy and to live a blameless life. God invites us to dwell in Him. Are we the baptised responding to God’s Holy Love.

Living in today’s world, I sometimes get the shivers. You might ask why? When I look around, I see people walking away from the Call of God to holiness. When I see currently what is happening in the US presidential elections – the two candidates Trump vs Hilary Clinton. These two are literally tearing each other down. It is difficult to believe that a country like the United States is unable to produce two respectable and righteous people for the presidential candidacy.

I wonder what is happening to our world. People are walking away from God and from what is right. What happened when we became Children of God? Why are people walking away from God and running to worldly pleasures – pleasures that are evil.

Let those of us who are baptised and are happy to respond to God’s call – let us sit beside Him and look into His Holiness and WORSHIP HIM. Let us pray for ourselves, our families, our friends, our communities, our country, all countries of the world that they may leave their evil ways and follow God who is Holy and Righteous. Let us pray!

At the Foot of the Cross – Lyrics

Are you feeling burdened or stressed.  Are you worried about something that you cannot solve?  Are you sick with some terminal illness?  Feeling weak and alone?

I have some good news for you. Most importantly it is necessary to forgive all those who have hurt you and to ask forgiveness from those whom you have hurt. Then leave it all at the Foot of the Cross.

Jesus Christ died for you and for me.  Leave your burdens at the Foot of the Cross and believe that you are Loved by God and He will relieve you of your burdens, your sickness and whatever else is keeping you down.

JESUS CHRIST LOVES YOU AND HE DIED FOR YOU.

Jesus Christ said, ‘YOUR FAITH HAS MADE YOU WELL”.  NOW BE READY TO RECEIVE A FLOOD OF BLESSINGS.
