Trust in God with all your heart by Florence D’Costa

Proverbs 3:5 ❥
I know that some of us at times feel doubtful if we are loved and cared for by God.  When we look around us and we see that other people have much more than we have and we feel quite let down by God.  Through experience, I would like to share with you today that what you have is what God has given you and it is best to trust Him because He is able to see around the bend and we cannot.  God has our best interests in mind – So pray more, meaning coming into God’s presence and have a chat with Him.  Tell him your problems, your worries and if you have any anxieties, just share this with him and wait upon the Lord, for He will surely answer you.  He works when you TRUST IN HIM.  Yes, we are not able to understand God’s ways but as the word of God says – let us not lean on our own understanding.  When we trust in God, we allow Him to perform miracles in our

My dear brothers and sisters in Jesus Christ, there is something I would like to share with you.  Many times in our lives, we do experience a sort of disability when it comes to doing God’s Holy Will.  Let us ask ourselves, Why?  Why do we feel incapable of performing?  It is because we try to do things with our own strength.  But if we realise that we are in Christ and Christ is in us and whatever we do, it is vital that we do through Christ who strengthens us.  If we keep this in mind and stay connected, God will give us the grace to do all things through Christ Jesus.

Doing God’s Holy Will

Not very many people know how important it is to believe in God and further more how important it is to do what He wants us to do.  Well, let us pray for people to be enlightened by the Holy Spirit.  This is an old video of mine but the Holy Spirit is prompting me to present this video once again.  All I am being is OBEDIENT.

Suffering – Can you Pray?

To those who are sick in hospitals, nursing homes, sick at home and in agonising and excruciating pain.  Is it possible for such people to praise and thank God.  For those who are suffering terrible and excruciating pain, it is highly impossible to be praising God during that time but your love for God is above all others, then your soul is in the Presence of God.  That is what is important.  Loving God all the time even without saying One Word out loud. There is one thing I would like to tell you all.  When you are suffering excruciating pain, and you know that you love God above all else then, I am sure that God is very much aware of how much you love Him and YOU CAN BE SURE THAT YOU ARE IN HIS EMBRACE.  Suffering, Happy, Sad, Laughing, Dancing, Crying, Smiling – whatever you may be doing – if you love God above all else, you can be sure that you will be FOREVER IN HIS EMBRACE and that is the safest place to be at all times.

Afraid of Persecution?

Are you Baptised and Confirmed in the Catholic Faith/Christian Faith?  Do you have a desire to proclaim the Joy of the Gospel?  Are there hurdles in your path?  Have you come across various types of persecution in your life and has this stopped you dead in your tracks?  Are you afraid or timid and you do not want to proceed any further? Well, don’t you know that you are failing in your duty as a Christian?  We follow Jesus Christ and He died for us.  We are all called to be like our Master.  We are all called to die for Christ, for our faith and for one another.

I will give you a few scripture quotes on persecution :

2 Timothy 3:12  “Indeed all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”

Matthew 5:44. “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”

Acts 14:21-22. “When they had preached the gospel to that city and had made many disciples, they returned to Lystra and to Iconium and to Antioch, strengthening the souls of the disciples, encouraging them to continue in the faith and saying that through many tribulations we must enter the kingdom of God.”

I would like to share something of Stephen’s Martyrdom : Acts 7:54-60; 8:3.

1.   What was Stephen doing that angered the Jewish Leaders.  He was spreading the Word of God, and the number of disciples increased greatly and even many priests accepted the Faith.  Some persons who belonged to the synagogue of the Freedmen (as it was called) from Cyrene, Alexandria, and others from Cilicia and Asia, came forward and argued with Stephen but they could not match his wisdom, so they bribed a few men to accuse him stating that he did blaspheme against Moses and against God.  They then stirred the people, the elders and the teachers of the Law and they brought him before the Sanhedrin.  He spoke in wisdom and in truth but they became angry.  V.55 “Stephen, full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into Heaven and saw the glory of God and Jesus at God’s right hand, 56 “Look!” He said, “I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.”  But they rushed upon him, seized him, took him outside the city and stoned him. 59″As they were stoning him, Stephen prayed, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

I have noted the following :

1.    Stephen was chosen and he was prayed over by the Apostles.

2.    He was a man full of the Holy Spirit and he was filled with wisdom.

3.    God revealed Himself to him – When he was about to be seized by the angry men, he gazed into Heaven and he was favoured by God, for God revealed Himself to him. Stephen saw the Heavens open and he saw Jesus Christ standing at the right hand of God.  What do you think the mood was in Heaven.  Jesus Christ was sad that Stephen (His man) was about to be stoned and killed.  So God showed Himself to Stephen so that Stephen would sleep happily.  God gave Stephen the grace to speak up for God and for Jesus Christ before the Sanhedrin with NO FEAR.  Stephen had a taste of Heaven before he entered Heaven.  In my earlier article I wrote that it is better to go to Heaven without any limbs rather than for our entire bodies to be thrown into hell.

4.     Stephen had the FAITH that Jesus Christ would receive him when he stands at the Gates of Heaven, when he prayed in verse 59, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

5.    HE FORGAVE THEM just like JESUS CHRIST did, when he said in a loud voice in verse 60, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.”

6.     When we speak up for Jesus Christ,  we are openly doing battle with Satan and his dark angels and Satan becomes our adversary and he will furiously fight us.

So, when we are for Christ and for His Kingdom, we must bravely admit to our ourselves that WE HAVE OPENLY BEGUN OUR BATTLE AGAINST SATAN AND HIS KINGDOM.

So, my dear Readers, do you think that life would be easy for us.  No, we would have to be constantly vigilant.  We must forgive those who harm us and if we have knowingly or unknowingly harmed any body, we must ask pardon.  Forgiveness is they Key to our own happiness.

Ephesians 6:10-18.

10 Finally, be strong in The Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armour of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything. To stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteous in place. 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all The Lord’s people.

How to Stay In The Presence of God 24 x 7

Prayer is having a conversation with God.  When God talks, we listen.  When we talk, God listens.  What do we normally? We talk and talk and talk to God.  Well, what do we talk to God?  Well, I remember how I used to pray a very long while ago.  I would tell God my sob stories and how he was not taking good care of me, meaning THAT HE WAS NOT DOING WHAT I WANTED HIM TO DO FOR ME.  I would go on and on and on and I did not give Him a chance to answer me and when He did speak to me, I could not hear Him because I did not know how to listen.  I could hear when people spoke to me but I was stone deaf when the Holy Spirit would gently whisper to me.  I was so full of myself.  I stood on a little pedestal and I kept on telling God that He being God, He could make me happy by granting me all my desires.

Well, God had other plans.  He definitely did not like my plans.  He did have a blue print that He designed for me from ALL ETERNITY.  Do you think I was happy with His Blue Print?  No way.  Then began my wrestling with God, Night and Day.  My wrestling with God continued for a period of time.  He allowed, struggles and suffering to meet me Head On.  Do you think I was happy?  No way but I knew that God was  my only hope.  I could never leave Him nor Forsake Him.  I GUESS, HIS LOVE FOR ME WAS SO GREAT THAT HE DID NOT LET ME GO  AWAY FROM HIM.  I WAS IN HIS LOVING EMBRACE BUT I WAS STRUGGLING TO COPE BECAUSE NOTHING WAS GOING ACCORDING TO MY PLAN BUT EVERYTHING WAS GONG ACCORDING TO HIS (GOD’S PLAN).

I always had a passionate desire for the WORD OF GOD.  I was wanting to study Scripture for a very long time but the Catholic Church was afraid to allow us to read the Bible, leave alone studying scripture.  The Catholic Church held onto the Sacraments and the Protestants held onto The Bible (the Word of God).  Then like a miracle, one day I heard that the Charismatic Group was having Adoration once a week in Convent, which I attended.  Oh my God, those were such wonderful days.  I enjoyed every moment of it.  I enjoyed BEING IN THE PRESENCE OF GOD FOR ONE WHOLE HOUR once a week.  Then, our group attended a stay in Retreat at a Hill Station.  A very cool and beautiful place.  At this retreat the Word of God was preached and Oh My God, my eyes were opened.  You see, when I was in Grade One I learnt catechism but along the way I had forgotten the Question and Answer that I studied.  Who made you?  God made me.  Why did he make you.  He made me to Know Him, Love Him and Serve Him.  This was not explained to me in Grade One but at this retreat Fr Rebello explained it so well.  And later when I began to study scripture Sr Claude taught us in a very deep way.  While I was in Scripture Class I was definitely in GOD’S PRESENCE and I felt as though I was lifted upto Heaven.  Fr Rebello and Sr Claude taught me the same thing.  How would we get to know God.  Only through Scripture.  Right from the Old Testament to the New Testament we learn that God is Love.  But we Catholics remembered God as a punishing God.  Once we get to know God and that He is Love even in the Old Testament, we begin to fall in Love with Him.  Any human being can fall in love only when we know a person and Scripture teaches us that God is Love and He can be nothing else.  So, when we love Him, we will begin to Serve Him without any questions.

So, a word of advice to all my readers.  If you are having struggles and sufferings in your life, this is the time to begin wrestling with God.  Never leave Him.  Keep on questioning Him and the Listen, He will answer you through His Word.  In fact He has answered you already through me.  Go for a WORD OF GOD RETREAT and God will talk to you through His Word.  He will answer all your questions and He will remove your all your doubts.

It is very important to get to know your God because when you get to know Him, you will fall in love with Him and then you will serve Him without any questions.

Now that we believe and trust in God a 100 percent, we have already begun to LIVE IN HIS PRESENCE.  My advice to everyone is, no matter what we are doing in our lives.  Whether, we are sleeping, eating, bathing, studying, crying, laughing, playing sport, working or praying etc, we need to be aware that we are in HIS PRESENCE.  HE NEVER LEAVES US.  JESUS CHRIST IS FAITHFUL AND HE IS ALWAYS WITH US, THUS PLACING US INTO HIS PRESENCE but it is very important for us to know that we are in His Presence all the time.  You might ask me, what about the times when I commit grievous sins, I am sure He would leave us.  Yes, when we commit grievous sins, we open the door of our hearts and we send Him out.  Yes, when we commit Mortal or grievous sins, He leaves our heart but never our side.  He stands outside the door of our hearts and He knocks and knocks and knocks.  John 3:16 ‘For God so loved the world that He sent His only begotten Son that whoever believes in Him may have eternal life.’ Jesus Christ was born in a stable for love of mankind and then He carried His Cross to Mount Calvary where he suffered and died and let us not forget that on the Third day He arose victoriously from the dead and He lives and reigns and He is seated at the Right Hand of the Father in Heaven where intercedes for us.  The Holy Spirit is with us and through Him we are in God’s presence.

I will now give you a few important points to follow to ensure that we are in His Presence all the time.

1.     Pray in the morning, before and after meals, night prayers, personal prayer and family prayer.  You can also pray The Divine Office.                                                                                                                   2.     Try to go for daily Mass and if that is not possible, atleast for Sunday Mass.                                                                                                           3.      For those who are not able to attend daily Mass, you can atleast read the Catholic readings for the day.  You may go to :

If you are faithful to God and if you continue to have a conversation with Him.  You talk, God listens, God talks, you listen.  Be true to God in everything that you do and you will REMAIN IN HIS PRESENCE 24 x 7.  If you fall into grievous sin, be sorry, go for Confession and God will enter your heart again.   ALWAYS REMEMBER THAT JESUS CHRIST NEVER LEAVES YOUR SIDE BECAUSE OF HIS GREAT LOVE FOR YOU.  IF YOU ARE SUFFERING WITH ANY KIND OF SINFUL ADDICTION, DO NOT GIVE UP HOPE, PRAY AND SEEK HELP IN THE CATHOLIC CHURCH.  CATHOLICS ARE ALWAYS READY TO HELP THE BEST WAY THEY CAN.  REMEMBER THAT YOU ARE NOT ALONE.  GOD AND HIS PEOPLE ARE WITH YOU.

If Our God IS for us, then who can be against us?  Do we realise that Our God is Our Everlasting God.  Man will come and go but God is FOREVER.  He is the Alfa and the Omega – The Beginning and the End.  Those who wait on the Lord, will be renewed in their spirit and we will never be the same.  Our God is the Greatest. We must believe in Him and in Him alone.

Yes, we wait upon the Lord,  for He reigns forever. He is the Everlasting God and He is Faithful.  He is Our Lifter and our Provider. What is it that you need today.  Ask and you will receive.  Ask with faith and it will be given to you – Never doubt, for God wants us to be happy and He wants to meet our needs every day and every moment of our lives.  With Christ Jesus we cannot fail, except if we quit. We must always believe that we are moving forward.  We should not be quitters but we should be learners because it is going to be alright for the Everlasting God is with us.  When problems comes our way, we become despondent and we forget the God who created this whole universe.  Our God is our creator.  How amazing is our God.  Everyday, we are learning the lessons of life. Everyday is a living experience. We do have good times and bad times but we must remember that God is for us and He is constantly blessing us. So, we should begin to COUNT OUR BLESSINGS.

What we have today is exactly what God wants us to have.  Our family, our friends,a job – even it is a small one, a roof over our heads, our meals and clothes that we wear.  We should take what we have  and make the most out of it.    We must believe that God has equipped us to live today. Today is what I have and I must live today to the fullest.  We are called to live every moment doing what God wants me to do and to be happy in His love , trusting in Him alone.  I must believe that Our God is on the Throne and whatever He has given me today, is all that I need for today.  When the moment comes, God will give me much more.

We must remember that we are Precious in God’s eyes.   Let us go deep into the words, PRECIOUS.  Precious means something of great price and high value.  How many of us really and truly believe that we are something of GREAT PRICE AND HIGH VALUE.  God is calling each one of us to believe in Him and in ourselves.  David had a sling and a few small stones and with this he conquered Goliath.  He did not wear any armour.  If did, he might have lost the battle because it would have weighed him down.  So what he had was the best to fight Goliath.  So we must put on our armour of faith, love and especially trust in God.  With this, God will take us places that we never dreamed of.

God gave us Jesus Christ and He dwells in our hearts.  With Him, we are achievers and believe me, what you and I have today, is what God wants us to have.  Tomorrow is another day and if we are lacking tomorrow, God will come and breathe on the little that we have and make it PLENTY FOR US.  If we use what God has given us, He will multiply what we have and bless what we have.  With God, we will never be in want.  If we do not have today, tomorrow God will give us more and we will be in a position to help others. We must believe that we are UNIQUE and SPECIAL –  There is no one on this whole wide earth who can ever be like me, like you. So, I must be me and you must be you.  We must do what God wants us to do.  What he has given us today is what we need for today. Remember, tomorrow is another day.  God has given us what we need to do today according to His Holy Will and we must rejoice that we have today.  This morning we woke up while many did not.  What we have today is LIFE, so let us live it doing what God wants me to do today.

I would like to remind you that you and I are God’s MASTER PIECE – So let us go about today knowing that ‘I AM GOD’S MASTER PIECE’ and there is no one else like me.  I am Unique and Special and remember that we are the children of God and that we lack nothing.   Let us live today knowing that we are PRICELESS.  Wow! this is so comforting.
