Thy Word is a Lamp Unto my Feet – Lyrics

The Word of God guides us and teaches us Shows us the path that God wants us to take.  We need to pray and discern God’s Holy Will.  Sometimes, we might think that what we are doing is what God wants us to do.  It is important for each of the faithful to sit quietly at the  Feet of Jesus.  Sit before the Blessed Sacrament, spend some quiet time with Him every day.  When you learn to sit quietly at His Feet, Read the Word of God, you will find that Jesus Christ will speak to you through His Words.  God speaks to us through Scripture and it is extremely important for us to meditate on His Word.  Become One with Him through His Word and through the Presence of the Blessed Sacrament and you can be sure that the Holy Spirit of God will lead you.

LOVE = THE CROSS

We are in the Season of Lent – It is a time to contemplate LOVE ON THE CROSS.  Today, let us simply sit quietly and look at the Cross. What do we see?  We see Jesus Christ, the Son of God, God and Man, hanging from a tree, INNOCENT AND SINLESS.

We see :

  •          OBEDIENCE,
  •          LOVE,
  •          WILLINGNESS TO GIVE UP HIS LIFE FOR LOVE OF US.
  •           SUFFERING
  •           ONE WHO WAS CONDEMNED BY HIS OWN PEOPLE
  •           HE ONLY DID GOOD FOR HIS PEOPLE
  •           THE BLINDNESS OF THOSE WHO PERSECUTED HIM
  •           GREAT HUMILIATION. HE WAS LAUGHED AND SCORNED AT.
  •            FORGIVENESS –  “FORGIVE THEM FATHER FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO”
  •            THE PLAQUE AT THE TOP OF THE CROSS – “THE KING OF THE JEWS”
  •            HE IS MORE THAN A KING.  HE IS THE KING OF KINGS.
  •            HIS NAIL PIERCED HANDS AND FEET.
  •            WE SEE THE SON OF MAN’S LASHED AND WOUNDED BODY.
  •             LOVE FOR HIS MOTHER WHEN HE GAVE HIS MOTHER TO JOHN.

What is Jesus Christ saying to each one of us from the Cross :

  •              I LOVE YOU.  I WILLINGLY DIED FOR YOU.
  •              I WANT YOU TO LOVE ME IN RETURN AND TO LIVE FOREVER WITH ME IN PARADISE.
  •               IT IS NECESSARY FOR YOU TO CARRY YOUR CROSS EVERYDAY AND FOLLOW ME
  •               EVERY INDIVIDUAL DOES HAVE PROBLEMS AND DIFFICULTIES.
  •               I WILL GIVE YOU GRACE AND I WILL PROTECT YOU.
  •               I WILL CARRY YOU ON MY SHOULDERS WHEN YOU ARE UNABLE TO CARRY ON.                      YOU WILL THEN SEE ONLY ONE SET OF FOOT PRINTS ON THE SAND AND THOSE WOULD BE MINE.
  •                DO NOT BE AFRAID FOR I AM WITH YOU TILL THE END OF TIME.
  •                I HAVE WON THE BATTLE AGAINST EVIL AS I AM ALIVE – I AM THE RESURRECTED LORD.  I HAD TO DIE SO THAT I WOULD RISE VICTORIOUSLY.
  •                I AM A WINNER AND SO ARE YOU.  BUT YOU MUST BE READY TO ACCEPT SUFFERING IN THIS LIFE.
  •                I WILL GIVE YOU A CROWN IN THE NEXT LIFE AND FOR EVERY SUFFERING THERE I WILL PLACE A PRECIOUS STONE IN YOUR CROWN.
  •                IF YOU LOVE ME AND ARE HAPPY TO ACCEPT YOUR SUFFERING AND PAINS, THE JOYS THAT YOU WOULD EXPERIENCE WITH ME IN HEAVEN WILL BE INDESCRIBABLE.
  •                 FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO ARE TEMPTED TO WALK THE BROAD ROAD OF SIN, I APPEAL TO YOU TO TURN AROUND AND COME BACK TO ME.  THE BROAD ROAD LEADS TO HELL AND DAMNATION.
  •                  SUFFERING CLEANSES, PURIFIES AND DRAWS YOU CLOSER AND CLOSER TO ME FOR I AM THE RESURRECTED  LORD.
  •                  AS YOU COME CLOSER AND CLOSER TO ME, YOU WILL EXPERIENCE  LOVE, JOY, PEACE, FORBEARANCE, KINDNESS, GOODNESS, FAITHFULNESS, GENTLENESS AND SELF-CONTROL, PATIENCE, CHARITY, GENEROSITY AND CHASTITY.  I WILL CAUSE  ALL THE FRUITS OF MY HOLY SPIRIT WHICH YOU RECEIVED IN CONFIRMATION TO SURFACE AND BECOME VIBRANT IN YOU.
  •                  MY DEAR PEOPLE, I LOVE YOU.  COME BACK TO ME AND MY FATHER WILL PROTECT YOU UNDER HIS WING.

MY ARMS ARE OUTSTRETCHED WAITING FOR YOU TO COME BACK INTO MY EMBRACE.

MY EMBRACE IS HEAVEN.  MY EMBRACE IS GRACE.  MY EMBRACE IS A HAVEN.  IN MY EMBRACE YOU WILL BE SAFE ON THIS EARTH AND IN THE NEXT.

COME BACK MY PEOPLE – COME TASTE AND SEE!!!!!!

Ash Wednesday – 2015

Hosea – COME BACK TO ME – Lyrics by John Michael Talbot

By Florence D’Costa

Ash Wednesday is the beginning of Lent which is a 40 day period where we journey with Jesus Christ through His most sorrowful passion and death and ultimately we CELEBRATE EASTER, the Day He rose again in all His glory, when He conquered Sin and Death.

Catholics attend Mass on Ash Wednesday when the priest places ashes on our forehead and says the words :

1.   Repent and follow the Gospel.

2.   Thou art dust and unto dust thou shalt return.

During Lent, there are three things that we need to do ”

1.    Prayer  –  What is prayer?  Prayer is having a conversation with
with God.  We talk, God listens.  Then God talks and it
important to listen to what God is saying to us.
1 Tessolonians 5:17  “Pray without ceasing”  Does it
mean that we have to pray 24 x 7?  Yes.  Well, how
can we do this?  It means that we need to be in the
Presence of God all the time.  No matter what we are
doing – eating, working, dancing, cooking or sleeping,
we need to be conscious of the Presence of Jesus Christ.
When we are conscious of the Presence of Jesus Christ,
we would try our best to do everything to please Him
and thus we would be walking away from Sin.

2.    Fasting –  We are all called to abstain from eating meat on Ash
Wednesday, on all Fridays during Lent and on Good
Friday.  Fasting is primarily an act of willing abstinence
or reduction from certain or all food, drink or both for
a period of time.  WHY DO WE FAST DURING LENT?
We combine fasting, praying, contemplating on the
passion of Christ and engage in acts of self-discipline.
When we fast, our bodies become submissive to Our
Spirit.  This is another way of walking away from Sin.
We are also called to fast from our sinful habits.  We
can give up watching TV or watching less hours of TV.
Spend less time on the internet and make some more
sacrifices.  We can share our food with the poor.

3.Almsgiving – We can save some money during Lent and give our
to CARITAS.  This is an organization that helps the
poor and the needy.  I think it is very important for us
to give money to CARITAS this Lent as there are many
displaced Catholics and Christians.  These are the
people who have been driven out of their homes by
terrorists in Syria. They were forced to leave everything
behind and to flee for their lives if they refused to
convert to Islam.  These people are very poor indeed as
they gave up their homes and their life savings for
JESUS CHRIST.

So my dear Catholic and Christian brothers and sisters, let us begin our journey with Jesus Christ, this Lent.  For those of us who were
walking away from Christ, it is time to TURN AROUND AND TO COME BACK TO HIM.
