Reaching out to Catholic/Christians Individuals/Families

34th Week of Ordinary Time

Luke 21:34-36

34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap. 35 For it will come on all those who live on the face of the whole earth. 36 Be always on the watch, and pray that you may be able to escape all that is about to happen, and that you may be able to stand before the Son of Man.”

My dear Brothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ,

We are being cautioned to be vigilant and alert and not to be caught in a state of drunkeness.  They are many people these days who indulge in drinking heavily to drown their sorrows or to forget the problems and difficulties.  It is a way of escape.  Instead of facing reality along with Jesus Christ, people resort to taking to the bottle.  There are people who have a ‘PITY PARTY’  When they are faced with problems that they consider to be as big as a mountain and which they are unable to tackle, they either drown themselves in their sorrows or they take up drinking.

We do not know when the end of the world will be, which will surely come one day but we know for sure that each one of us who are born in this world will surely one day die and that would be the end of our world – meaning our individual life.  We are being cautioned not to get too involved with the things of this world.  We are called to pray.  We need to communicate with our God, meaning, we can talk but it is necessary that we listen to what He has to say to us.  If we listen with our hearts, we will surely hear Him speaking to us.   It is necessary that we pray for atleast an hour a day – talking and listening to Our God.  If we get too caught up with the world, then when our end comes or the end of the world, we will not be ready to STAND BEFORE THE SON OF MAN.  That would be our judgement day.

We are called to have a LOVING RELATIONSHIP with God during our Life time  and we should not let the cares of the world get us down or bring us down.  Having a loving relationship with God will increase in our hearts a desire (which is beyond our imagination) to be and to remain with this Great Big God of Ours.  When we are with those whom we love, we want to be in their company all the time.  Well, it would be the same when we have a loving relationship with Christ Jesus Our King.  We would always want to be with Him, so when He comes, it would not make any difference because we have been experiencing this closeness to Him and our hearts are longing to be with Him always.  Our death or the End of the World would be a sweet and wonderful experience for each one of us, if we build up our relationship with God, the Most High.

For those of us who love to pray, we should not only pray for ourselves and our families but we should pray for all peoples that they would in this life, live only to love and glorify God.  Then, when the Son of Man comes, we would be ready for Him and He would hold us in His loving embrace and take us home to our Heavenly Kingdom.

At the end of my life, this would be the most wonderful experience and I am sure for those of us who long for the Christ’s embrace, we will not be disappointed.  So let us all, from today, learn to live only to Glorify God in whatever we think, say and do.  Let us long for Christ’s embrace everyday, so that when He comes to take us Home, we would be ready to be taken into the Clouds and into Our Heavenly Kingdom.
