Reaching out to Catholic/Christians Individuals/Families

We bid Farewell to Reverend Father Roger John Ryan

Yesterday,(25 October, 2011) was a sad day for me. A dear priest and friend of mine named Fr Roger John Ryan was laid to rest. He was born on 10th December 1942 and he died on 17th October 2011.

He was ordained priest on 25th August 1973 for the Archdiocese of Melbourne.

He was parish priest of St Gerards Catholic Church, North Dandenong for many years and he loved this parish.

“Prayer of Commendation :

“Into your hands, Father of mercies, we commend our brother Fr Roger Ryan in the sure and certain hope that, together with all who have died in Christ, he will rise with him on the last day. We give you thanks for the blessings which you bestowed upon Fr Roger Ryan in this life, they are signs of your goodness and of our fellowship with the saints in Christ.

Merciful Lord, turn toward us and listen to our prayers upon the gates of paradise to your servant and help us who remain to comfort one another with assurances of faith until we all meet in Christ and are with you and with our brother forever. Amen.

AN IRISH BLESSING

May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine upon your face,
and rains fall soft upon your fields,
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.

Whenever I read this Irish Blessing, tears come to my eyes and I think of my parents, other loved ones and dear friends who have gone before Fr Roger Ryan.

I also do have many loved ones and friends who are in Australia, India and other parts of the world whom I hope and pray to meet some day.
