Reaching out to Catholic/Christians Individuals/Families

Continuation of ‘The Armour of God’

Sin dwells in the flesh of every human being. We need to pray constantly and ask Our Lord Jesus Christ to keep us free from sin. St Paul says in Romans 7:15 “For what I am doing, I do not understand; for I am not practicing what I would like to do, but I am doing the very thing I hate.” I always soak my whole self, my family and all of humanity with the Most precious blood of Christ Jesus. For His Most precious blood would heal and cleanse us and make us whole. Christ’s precious blood would cause us to walk away from sin and would cause situations where we could be purified.

“14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,”A soldier wears a tunic which is loose like a sack and hence he wears a belt around his waist to give it some shape. So a Christian whether male or female, old or young need to wear the belt of Truth(Christ Jesus is the Truth) around his/her waist. For a soldier, the breastplate is very important to protect his chest or upper body. We as Christians need to wear the Righteousness of Christ Jesus. Isaiah 64:6 “We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment. We all fade like a leaf, and our iniquities, like the wind, take us away.” From this verse we could see that our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment, meaning we cannot boast about our righteousness and hence we need to wear the Righteousness of Christ.

In verse 15, it says that our feet need to be fitted with the Gospel of Peace, meaning that we need to be ready to go places to share the Word of God with people. To bring peace (Jesus Christ is the Prince of Peace) and deliverance to people. Christ Jesus speaks to us through the Gospel so it is very important that we be ready at all times to go to people who are sick in mind, soul and body and to take the Gospel to them. To break the WORD OF GODwith them. Here again a Roman soldier wears sandles so that he will not cut his feet. We need to be READY meaning, we need to be willing to reach out to people and share the word of God with them, especially to those who are in need.

A soldier straps his shield onto one hand and in his other hand he carries his sword. The shield for Christians is a Shield of Faith with quenches the fiery darts of the evil one. We need to pray constantly and ask God to increase our faith in Him. If we have total and complete faith in God, then faith becomes our shield and it would quench the fiery darts of the evil one. Then no matter what problems and difficulties come our way, we would stand firm believing that Christ Jesus in control of our lives and that He would not permit anything to happen to us that would harm us. Because of our faith in Him, miracles would occur in our lives and the enemies fiery darts would be quenched.

In verse 17 it says that we need to wear the helmet of Salvation and the Sword of the Spirit. When we were baptised, we became children of God and through the Blood of Christ Jesus we are saved. The Sword of the Spirit is the Word of God. We need to read the Word of God and meditate on it. To have the knowledge of scripture is very important and more especially we need to break the word, meaning we need to go deep into its meaning. The Word of God should be spoken aloud into our lives and for others so that God’s healing power would flow into our lives and for those whom we pray for.

Verse 18 says that we need to pray in the spirit, (pray in tongues). When we pray in tongues we allow the spirit who knows the heart of God, with groanings to pray through us for ourselves and others constantly for all occasions and to pray all kinds of prayer. Just like the way our own spirit knows our most innermost thoughts, the Spirit knows the heart of God. More especially, we need to be alert and pray for all God’s people. Just like a soldier, we need to be alert and pray constantly. We need to be vigilant.

The necessity to have Christ Jesus before us, beside us, behind us, above us and all around us is vital and more especially we all need to be covered by His Most Precious Blood.

So, to conclude I would like to add here that we need to have Jesus Christ all around us all the time and we need to have total faith in Him, be in prayer and be vigilant like a soldier. If we are ready for battle all the time, then the enemy would be afraid to advance or to attack us.

I would like to mention here that every created being whether male or female is very precious in the eyes of God. All are equal and God does not discriminate between male and female. All of us need to strive for perfection and Holiness and be pure in mind, soul and body. Every single human being is called to work in the Kingdom of God and hence all Christians and Catholics are called to work for the Glorification of God and not for our his/her glory.

I would like to add here that in the Catholic Church, we have male priests and this is the way Our Lord Jesus Christ began His Ministry. He chose twelve Male Apostles and till today the Catholic church follows what Our Lord Jesus Christ has instituted and I think it should continue to remain the same. Well, this does not mean that women have less of a role in the church. Catholic women will and should continue to do what they are doing but they need to seek to go deeper and discover Christ Jesus in a more intimate manner. Each individual when baptised is a priest, prophet and king and we should strive to go closer and closer to Our Lord Jesus Christ. This should be the aim of every Catholic/Christian. 1 Peter 2:9 says “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.”

I am very proud of who St Mary Mackillop is. She was a very beautiful woman and she worked for Christ and for His Kingdom and she became a Saint. How many priests have we had in Australia and how many priests have been canonised as Saints? But Mary MacKillop did have a “listening ear” – She listened to the Heart Beat of God and she did what He wanted her to do and she lived a Saintly life and thus she was canonised as a Saint. We are all called to be Saints but we all need to have a ‘listening ear’ and we need to rest our heads on the chest of Christ Jesus and listen to His Heart Beat and do the Will of Our Heavenly Father. So let us go forth Brothers and Sisters in Jesus Christ. We are all soldiers called to Glorify God in the place where we have been planted and we have been called to bear fruit. Jn 15:1-4 says ” 1 “I am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.” SO MY DEAR BROTHERS AND SISTERS, OUR AIM SHOULD BE TO REMAIN IN CHRIST AND TO BEAR MUCH FRUIT.”

So let us thank God for His Tender Mercy and Love that He so graciously sent His Only Son to die for us that we may have Eternal Life! Alleluia! Praise Our Lord, Jesus Christ!
